Maker in Focus, Mission Gallery, Swansea
Yr Uned (Family)
Typically it is the idea of lending
recognisable elements to strangers that inspire my pieces, but for this Maker
in Focus I decided to focus on the family. Following a loss the importance of the
link between members is questioned. By deconstructing this relationship to a
line is it possible to maintain the character of the whole unit?
8 figures =
one unit = Two beginnings = Two losses.
Here are a few photographs of the work - thank you Matthew Otten for taking these!

A quick post on my return from London having exhibited a few pieces at Showcase Cities London. A very worth while experience having met some very interesting people, and was lovely meeting a few fellow Parallaxers again! I would like to thank the Showcase Cities team for the opportunity.

At last, thanks to a web design course I attended today I now (hopefully) know enough to create my own website so be prepared! Although I realise that blogging is a very imortant tool in today's society I feel that having a website as well will lend a professional edge to what I'm hoping will be my future career. The website will be up and running early in the new year (once I've mastered the ins and outs of it).

Well, Art in the Garden has officially come to an end! Just a quick note to thank everyone at Hillier gardens, Uncle Glyn and Sue for lending me the horse-box and my Dad for driving me down - would never have made it otherwise (I'm a bad driver at the best of times so there was no hope of me getting there with a horse-box at the back).
I wasn't sure what to expect of the piece as I hadn't seen it since May, but was very happy with it. For one thing it was still upright and secondly it had started to rust - the desired effect was for the work to dissappear over time (please judge for yourself in the photographs below).
All there is left to do now is to find a space for it in the garden (hopefully somewhere where it won't scare the cats, dogs or chickens)...

Well what's new since my last visit? Things have been a little quiet over Summer yet I hope that will change with inspiration from a few new projects - sketchbooks are at the ready! The litle news I do have is that a donated figural strand sold for more than expected at the Jane Phillips auction (with proceeds going towards the Jane Phillips award for young and emerging artists) and I was very pleased to find that a minature strand of mine was included in 'Vending Machine: an Installation’ at Galleria Perela, during the Venice Biennale. Hopefully I will be a visitor one day!

Have just returned from Parallax Art Fair (and then from work) and enjoyed it immensely. Not only was it a fantastic opportunity to showcase work in London, but also a chance to visit the city's famous galleries. I would like to thank Dr. Chris Barlow and Rebecca Marcus-Monks for all their hard work and for giving me this opportunity.

'Tangled Delicacy' all ready and installed at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens in Hampshire. The exhibition opens on the 22nd of May so if you do have the chance please do visit - a hundred makers are exhibiting at the gardens and so it is well worth the look. I would like to thank Elizabeth Hodgson of Underground Art & Design and Jo Field of Hillier Gardens fo this opportunity.

If you're free please do visit.
